World Mental Health Day 2024

Today is World Mental Health Day.

The theme for this year is workplace mental health.

We have a supportive culture at Maxwell Hodge and encourage positive mental health and wellbeing. Our company values are Team, Support, Guidance and Resilience, which are promoted at all levels. These values are important for working with clients and colleagues but also for personal wellbeing.

One of the ways we encourage positive wellbeing is by sharing different resources and tips throughout the year and running awareness sessions. Furthermore, when people are suffering poor mental health, we put things in place to try to help them, such as paid time off, phased return to work or flexible working.

In addition, we regularly ask for staff feedback on initiatives and ways to improve the business by putting more support in place whether that be in relation to mental health and wellbeing or career development. This is because we aim to ensure that all staff are happy, feel supported, have meaningful opportunities, and build good connections.

Having a healthy and happy workforce is vital for both the individual and business due to the benefits it brings, including increased employee wellbeing, morale, job satisfaction and productivity. Some of the ways we try to increase wellbeing is by:

  • Having open conversations about mental health.
  • Sharing resources about mental health, wellbeing, and different awareness days.
  • Having a supportive Management Team and Mental Health and Wellbeing Team.
  • Prioritising employee voice by providing opportunities for staff feedback (such as performance reviews, team and office meetings, and engagement surveys).
  • Offering paid time off for volunteering, caring responsibilities, and studying/exams.

There are many ways we support employees and enhance this wherever possible. The annual employee engagement survey we run is invaluable to see what improvements we can make, as our people’s views are important to ensure that the plans and strategies that we put in place support the long-term health and wellbeing of our Team.
