Team: Medical Negligence Team
Type: Permanent, Fulltime
Experience: Minimum 2 years’ PQE running varied caseload incl. issued claims.
Salary: £30,000-£40,000 DOE/Grade.
Hours: 9.00am-5.00pm, Monday-Friday (4 days or compressed hours will be considered).
Location: Ideally based at our Kirkby Office (12 Newtown Gardens, L32 8RR).

About You
As a successful Litigation Lawyer, you will effectively represent the company with a professional and approachable manner, always acting in the best interests of our clients to provide them with an efficient, quality, and reputable service including sound legal advice, representation, and guidance.
The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years’ experience managing a varied medical negligence caseload including litigated matters and will bring energy, enthusiasm, and a proactive approach to this role. Key skills we are seeking include strategic thinking, strong negotiation and communication skills, and emotional intelligence to deliver an empathetic and client‑focused service. With a strategic mindset, you will provide compassionate and professional advice and develop creative solutions to complex issues.

Key Duties
- Attend upon clients and others in person and by telephone to take instructions.
- Complete risk assessments and client due diligence and conflict checks.
- Record detailed file/attendance/telephone.
- Handle a range of claims from initial instruction through to settlement, mediation, or trial.
- Diarise key dates and deadlines and keep under review.
- Instruct Counsel/experts and any other third parties as necessary.
- Negotiate and agree costs for any settled matters.
- Schedule meetings/appointments/conferences and maintain an up-to-date diary.
- Prepare for Court hearings and arrange representation/attend hearings.
- Draft and finalise legal documents such as Letters of Claim, Schedule of Loss etc.
- Conduct research to build a robust case strategy and to quantify the claim.
- Engage in ADR and settlement negotiations to resolve claims.
- Issue claims at Court as and when this becomes necessary.
- Advise clients and keep them informed throughout their claim.
- Prepare costs updates to clients and regularly report to the BTE/ATE insurer.
- Accurately record matter related time to achieve billing and time recording target.
- Ensure timely and accurate billing for any settled claims.
- Ensure compliance with all professional requirements.
Salary, Holidays and Benefits
- The salary for this role is between £30,000 and £40,000 depending on experience.
- Annual holiday entitlement in a full calendar year is 20 days (if you are 2 years’ PQE on start date) increasing yearly to 25 days in line with your PQE. This is in addition to bank holidays and an extra 3 days to be used between Christmas and New Year.
- Hybrid working available (ideally, you would be fulltime office based for your first 6 months, but hybrid working will be discussed at your interview in any event).
