In February and March this year, we wished a fond farewell to four of our colleagues as they embark on their journey into retirement.
With a combined service of 74 years at Maxwell Hodge, we all wish Denise, Karen, Marie, and Gill a long, happy, and healthy retirement.
Denise Scoular
Denise had a long and successful career as a Solicitor, practising in Wills, Probate, Court of Protection, and all other lifetime planning matters, such as Lasting Power of Attorney.
For 20+ years, as she joined Maxwell Hodge in 2002, she contributed to the success of the business, demonstrating our core values of Team, Support, Guidance, Resilience and Learning, continuously offering both her clients, and colleagues, wisdom, kindness, and expertise.
She held a variety of management positions and retired from her Director and Shareholder position in 2022 – succeeded by Andrea Ashton as Director Responsible for the Lifetime Planning Team following a close working relationship of 12 years. Denise therefore spent her last few years at Maxwell Hodge focusing on her client relationships before deciding to fully retire at the end of February 2025.
Karen Williams
Similarly, Karen retired at the end of February after working at the company since 2003. She was a key member of our support team, undertaking an assistant position in our Lifetime Planning Team as well as a call handling role, working on our front desk at our West Kirby Office. Karen always showed so much kindness, whether that be to clients and visitors to the office or to her colleagues in providing efficient support.
Marie Granby
Marie joined Maxwell Hodge in 2015 and retired in March 2025. Marie enjoyed a long and successful career as a Solicitor after qualifying in 2005. She was also an accredited member of the Association of Lifetime Lawyers and a full member of STEP, demonstrating her experience and skill. Marie had a calm and measured style, which was vital for her line of work in dealing with Wills, Probate, and all lifetime planning matters, as this area of law is often a sensitive and emotional time for our clients.
Gill Eccles
Gill, another key member of our support team, retired at the end of March. Gill worked with a number of fee earners since joining Maxwell Hodge in 2003, always providing a trustworthy source of assistance to her colleagues and helping clients. Gill’s latter role was Lifetime Planning Assistant, in which she provided a high level of client service, utilising her skills, knowledge and friendliness.
